Ipsy – July 2013

My July 2013 Ipsy bag contained the following items:

  • BH Cosmetics California Collection sample palette
  • POP Beauty Pouty Pop Crayon in Fuchsia Flirt
  • Coola Mineral Face Tinted Moisturizer 20 SPF in Rose Essence
  • Sexy Hair Soy Renewal Beach Spray
  • Nailtini Nail Lacquer in Mai Tai

Just some quick thoughts about each item…

The BH Cosmetics eyeshadows are okay.  The colors are nice, but the pigmentation varies; if you look at the image above, the quality goes from worst to best.  Hollywood, the purple shadow, is smooth but takes forever to build up to the color in the pan.  San Francisco is a bit chalky, and also takes some building up… but not as much as Hollywood.  The final shadow, Malibu, is nice.  It’s also not terribly pigmented, but I could see myself using it as an interesting highlight.

The POP Beauty lip crayon goes on smoothly and true to the shade in the tube.  It isn’t long-lasting, but due to the size it’s easy to throw in your makeup bag for touch-ups.  Definitely a bag favorite this month.

The Coola Mineral Tinted Moisturizer has a really delicate rose scent and feels light on my skin.

The Sexy Hair Soy Renewal Beach Spray is another one of my favorite products from the July bag.  The scent reminds me of the ocean and sunscreen, and when I opened my bag this month I could immediately smell it… totally brought a smile to my face.  The product itself gave my hair texture, resulting in the piece-y beach hair you’d expect.

Finally, the Nailtini polish performed as well as past polishes from the same brand.  The formula is just right – easy application and opaque in two coats.  From earlier pictures, I assumed it would be a bright red, but it’s actually a vibrant red-orange.

I know other subscribers received a Demeter Salt Air perfume and I was reaaaaaally hoping for that, but I’m pleased with the items in my bag.
