Birchbox – July 2015

July 2015 Birchbox

Birchbox is a $10 (USD)/month subscription service (shipping included).  Each month, subscribers receive at least five beauty, grooming, and/or lifestyle samples.  Birchbox is also available in France, Spain, the UK and Canada.

I’ve received the Dr Brandt Microdermabrasion exfoliant in the past (from Ipsy, I believe).  It’s a decent product!  The fine crystals work well to gently exfoliate and I’m left with a clean, healthy looking face.  I haven’t picked up the full size, because it’s pricey… but, with some Birchbox points built up, I could justify the purchase!

Full size (2 oz) is $78, making the sample (0.25 oz) worth $9.75.

I’ve tried so many Coola products between my Birchbox and Ipsy subscriptions, it’s almost comical.  Thankfully, this particular sample of their facial sunscreen isn’t as tiny as some of the Coola samples I’ve received in the past.  Plus, the organic formula is non-greasy and sinks into the skin quickly.  I am not usually a fan of cucumber scents, but this particular one is not strong or offensive.

The full size (1.7 oz) is $32, making the sample (0.24 oz) worth $4.50.

The last in this trio of skincare products is the Stem Cellular CC Cream from Juice Beauty.  I received the shade “Desert Glow”, which looks to be somewhere in the light-medium range.  I’d probably know for sure if I’d tried it… but I haven’t.  It gets decent reviews, so that’s good!

A full size tube (1.7 oz) will run you $39, making the sample (0.17 oz) worth $3.90.

I discovered Amika in 2011, when Birchbox sent me their oil treatment.  That one sample got me hooked on the brand.  I purchased the dry shampoo soon after, along with a couple other hair products.  The Un.Done Texture Spray was one of them, so I’d already tried it prior to receiving the sample in this month’s Birchbox.  It lived up to the high expectations I had; it gives my fine hair a much needed boost, and has the same great scent as the rest of the line.

The full size texture spray (5.3 oz) retails for $24, making the sample size (0.75 oz) worth about $3.40.

As excited as I was to see the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks up as this month’s sample choice, I wasn’t as enthused about the colors offered.  All three were super vibrant and bright… and just not what I prefer to wear.  I chose Venezia (though it reads ‘Venizia’ on the package).  I’m passing this sample along to someone who’ll actually use it.

The full size (0.1 oz) is $24, making the sample (0.05 oz) worth $12.

Box Value: The total value of my samples this month is nearly $34.
