Ipsy – July 2015

July 2015 Ipsy

If you’re not familiar with it, Ipsy is a $10 (USD)/month subscription service (shipping included for the US; with an additional shipping fee for Canada).  Each month, subscribers receive 4-5 deluxe sample or full-size beauty and skincare products.  You also get a (sometimes) cute makeup bag containing all of the samples.

This tinted lip balm from Be A Bombshell wasn’t that great.  It went on a bit patchy and wasn’t terribly moisturizing.

It’s a full size product with a retail value of $14.00.

Tarte’s Deluxe Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer in Park Ave Princess is another story.  It’s the perfect bronzer shade for me, with just enough shimmer to add a nice glow.

The full size (0.32 oz) is $30, making the sample (0.11 oz) worth just over $10.

Octavio’s La Playa sea salt spray was a middle-of-the-road product for me.  As long as I used a light hand, it was decent.  It added a bit of texture and volume without making my hair crunchy.  I just wish the scent was better.  It smells ‘marine’, but in a musty way.

The full size (4 oz) sells for $15.50, making the sample size (2 oz) worth $7.75.

Vasanti’s Brighten Up! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator has been a favorite of mine since I sampled it in a Birchbox years ago.  The micro-crystals are, well, micro and they make the scrub gentle and easy on the face.

The full size (120 g) retails for $34.00, so the sample size (20 g) is worth nearly $6.

The Gel Effect Nail Lacquer from Aurora is another decent product.  Although I don’t get gel-like wear time, it doesn’t chip easily and does last a day or two more than expected.  I just wish I’d received a color I’d wear more often (the one above is ‘4 Alarm Fire‘).

The polish is full size and is on sale (at the time of writing this post, at least) for $7.99.

I also cashed in some Ipsy Points for the Buxom Eyeshadow Bar Single Eyeshadow in Silk Sheets, which is described as a “chai luster“.  Blends easily, well pigmented, super soft… just lovely all around.

The shadow itself retails for $12, while the compact sells for $2.

Box Value: The total value of my samples this month is almost $46.
